1. Purpose and Scope
These Community Guidelines and Posting Policies (“Guidelines”) outline the standards for behavior and content on the Relistery Service (“Service”). Our goal is to maintain a safe, respectful, and trustworthy marketplace where users can confidently buy and sell furniture and home goods.
These guidelines are enforced by Relistery Pty Ltd. As a company registered in Australia, we comply with Australian consumer protection laws including the Australian Consumer Law.
By using the Service, you agree to comply with these Guidelines, which are incorporated by reference into our Terms and Conditions. These Guidelines apply to all users, listings, messages, reviews, and any other interactions on or through the Service.
2. Prohibited Content and Behavior
2.1 Illegal Items and Activities
You may not list, promote, or engage in:
- Illegal drugs, narcotics, or controlled substances
- Weapons, firearms, ammunition, or explosives (except antique/deactivated items where legally permitted)
- Stolen property or items obtained illegally
- Counterfeit or pirated goods
- Hazardous materials or dangerous goods requiring special permits or licenses
- Live animals or animal products requiring special permits (except where legally allowed and properly documented)
- Prescription medications or medical devices requiring authorization
- Adult content, pornographic material, or sexual services
- Any item or activity that violates local, state, national, or international law
- Items subject to safety recalls or bans by Australian regulatory bodies
2.2 Infringing Content
You may not:
- List items that infringe copyright, trademark, patent, or other intellectual property rights
- Use copyrighted images, text, or other content without permission
- Sell counterfeit or replica items presented as genuine
- Use brand names or logos inappropriately to mislead buyers about authenticity
- List items that violate publicity or personality rights
2.3 Harassment and Hate Speech
You may not engage in:
- Harassment, threats, or intimidation of other users
- Hate speech based on protected attributes including race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or nationality
- Bullying, cyberstalking, or unwanted persistent contact
- Sharing personal information about other users without consent (doxxing)
- Using the Service to facilitate illegal activities or harmful behavior
2.4 Fraudulent and Deceptive Practices
You may not engage in:
- Misrepresenting items, their condition, features, or history
- Fake listings designed to scam users
- Bait-and-switch tactics (advertising one item but providing another)
- Shill bidding or artificial price manipulation
- Concealing material defects or damage
- False advertising or misleading claims about functionality or value
- Pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing, or get-rich-quick schemes
- Phishing attempts or requests for sensitive information under false pretenses
Engaging in false or misleading representations, deceptive conduct, or unconscionable conduct may constitute a breach of the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2, Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) Sections 18, 20–21.
2.5 Spam and Inappropriate Advertising
You may not:
- Post excessive or repetitive listings for the same item
- Use the Service primarily for advertising external businesses or websites
- Post unrelated content in listing descriptions or messages
- Engage in unsolicited commercial messaging or advertising
- Use misleading titles or tags to attract views
- Post promotional content unrelated to furniture or home goods
- Attempt to manipulate search rankings through deceptive practices
3. Listing Quality Standards
3.1 Accurate Descriptions
All listings must:
- Accurately describe the item’s condition, features, and specifications
- Include clear, honest information about any defects, damage, or wear
- Not omit material facts that would affect a buyer’s decision
- Match the actual item being sold (no stock photos unless clearly disclosed)
- Include all relevant details necessary for informed purchasing decisions
3.2 Image Requirements
Listing images must:
- Be clear, well-lit, and show the actual item being sold
- Accurately represent the item’s color, condition, and details
- Not contain watermarks, logos, or text that obscures the item (except subtle personal identifiers)
- Not be digitally altered to misrepresent the item’s appearance
- Not include inappropriate content, personal information, or unrelated objects
- Show multiple angles and close-ups of any wear or damage
- Be your own photographs or images you have rights to use
- State the item’s pickup address and access details (stairs, lift, parking) clearly, since Relistery is a collection-based marketplace where sellers do not deliver
- Keep photographs describing the item’s condition; buyers and sellers are encouraged to photograph the item at collection and on arrival as evidence in the event of a dispute
3.3 Pricing Transparency
All listings must:
- Display the total price clearly and prominently
- Not hide fees or charges in fine print or separate communications
- Clearly state if price is negotiable or firm
- Disclose any additional costs (shipping, handling, etc.) that are not included
- Not engage in price gouging or exploitative pricing practices
- Be in Australian Dollars (AUD) unless otherwise specified and agreed
3.4 Condition Assessment
When describing item condition, use these standardized definitions:
- New: Item is brand new, never used, in original packaging
- New With Tags: Item is brand new, never used, with original tags attached
- Like New: Item shows no signs of use, appears as if newly purchased
- Good: Item shows normal wear consistent with age and use, fully functional
- Fair: Item shows significant wear but remains functional and usable
- For Sale: Item is available for purchase
- Sold: Item has been sold and is no longer available
- Draft: Listing is incomplete and not yet published
- Suspended: Listing temporarily unavailable due to review or issues
- Removed: Listing permanently deleted by user or administrator
3.5 Prohibited Listing Practices
You may not:
- List items that are not actually available for sale
- Use misleading categories or tags to increase visibility
- Post incomplete listings with missing essential information
- List items requiring licenses or permits without disclosure
- List items that violate manufacturer warranties or agreements
- Post listings with prices significantly below market value to attract scams
- Use all caps, excessive punctuation, or disruptive formatting
4. Communication Standards
4.1 Respectful Interaction
All users must:
- Communicate respectfully and courteously with other users
- Use appropriate language and tone in all interactions
- Respect differing opinions and perspectives
- Respond to inquiries in a timely and helpful manner
- Not engage in arguments, name-calling, or hostile exchanges
- Maintain professionalism even when disagreements arise
4.2 Prohibited Language
You may not use:
- Profanity, vulgarity, or offensive language in listings or messages
- Hate speech or discriminatory language based on protected attributes
- Threats, intimidation, or language implying harm
- Sexually explicit or suggestive language in non-appropriate contexts
- Language that creates a hostile or unwelcoming environment
- Personal attacks or insults directed at other users
4.3 Response Expectations
While we do not mandate specific response times, users are encouraged to:
- Respond to reasonable inquiries within 24–48 hours
- Communicate delays or changes in availability promptly
- Provide clear information about collection, pickup, or meeting arrangements (sellers do not deliver; buyers arrange collection at the item’s pickup address)
- Be honest about availability and potential delays
- Update listing status promptly when items sell or become unavailable
4.4 Transaction Communications
During transactions, users should:
- Clearly communicate pickup, delivery, or shipping arrangements
- Provide tracking information when applicable
- Notify the other party of any changes or delays promptly
- Confirm receipt and satisfaction with the transaction
- Leave honest feedback based on the actual experience
5. Enforcement Mechanisms
5.1 Enforcement Approach
We may take enforcement action for violations of these Guidelines at our discretion. Enforcement actions may include:
- Contacting you regarding the violation
- Requesting that you correct or remove the violating content
- Removing or disabling access to violating content
- Suspending or terminating your account
- Reporting violations to relevant authorities where required by law
We will generally attempt to notify you of enforcement actions and the reasons for them, though we reserve the right to take immediate action without prior notice where we consider it necessary to protect the Service, other users, or the public.
5.2 Content Removal
We may immediately remove or disable access to:
- Listings containing prohibited items or illegal content
- Infringing material upon valid complaint
- Content violating harassment or hate speech policies
- Fraudulent or deceptive listings
- Spam or inappropriate advertising
- Personal information shared without consent
- Any content that poses immediate risk or harm
5.3 Temporary Suspensions
For violations of these Guidelines:
- Account access may be temporarily suspended
- During suspension, users cannot create new listings or initiate transactions
- Existing transactions may be allowed to complete at our discretion
- Users receive notification of suspension reason and, where applicable, duration
- Account actions are implemented by Relistery Pty Ltd
- Serious violations involving fraud, illegal goods, or significant consumer harm may be reported to Australian authorities
5.4 Permanent Bans
For serious or repeated violations:
- Accounts may be permanently banned from the Service
- Permanent bans apply to:
- Listing or selling illegal items
- Repeated ACL violations, including false or misleading representations
- Repeated fraudulent or deceptive practices
- Serious harassment or threats
- Trading in prohibited goods under Australian law
- Intellectual property infringement
- Attempts to evade suspensions or bans
- Actions that pose significant risk to Australian consumers
- Banned users may not create new accounts to evade the ban
5.5 Appeal Process
To appeal enforcement actions:
- Contact contact@relistery.com within 14 days of action notification
- Provide your account information and explanation of why you believe the action was incorrect
- Include any supporting evidence or context
- We will review your appeal and respond as soon as reasonably practicable
- Decisions on appeals are final and binding
6. Reporting Violations
To report violations of these Guidelines:
- Email reports to contact@relistery.com
- Provide as much detail as possible:
- Your contact information
- Specific content or behavior being reported (include URLs, IDs, screenshots)
- Explanation of how it violates these Guidelines
- Any relevant context or history
- Reports are reviewed promptly, and appropriate action is taken
- We do not disclose the identity of reporters to the reported user unless required by law
- False or malicious reports may result in action against the reporter
Report suspected violations of Australian Consumer Law to:
- Scamwatch (scamwatch.gov.au) for scams and fraud
- Product Safety Australia (productsafety.gov.au) for unsafe products
- Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (accc.gov.au) for misleading advertising or unconscionable conduct
- NSW Fair Trading (fairtrading.nsw.gov.au) for consumer disputes
Reports to these agencies can be made independently of reporting to Relistery.

8. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Guidelines shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any legal proceedings arising from or related to these Guidelines shall be brought exclusively in the courts of New South Wales, Australia.
9. Relation to Terms and Conditions
These Community Guidelines and Posting Policies are incorporated by reference into the Relistery Terms and Conditions. Violations of these Guidelines may constitute breaches of both these guidelines and the Australian Consumer Law, potentially resulting in enforcement action by Australian regulatory bodies.
By using the Relistery Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with these Community Guidelines and Posting Policies.
